I had this service before and even though you can have it replaced for free if you are renting it, I had the service for about 5 years and could have bought 5 modems if I bought them myself instead of renting so if you can fork out $200 or less it is worth it in the long run. I wanted to buy a modem instead of rent it from the provider service because it will for itself within a year. If you don't need it for phone service, there are cheaper versions of this modem that will serve you well. This model has the voice capability so you can use it for phone service as well. They said it is capable of faster speeds than the other modems they use, faster speeds than the provider can produce, which tells me it will be the only modem I will need for quite some time. I bought this cable modem for my area's fastest internet provider and the technicians had nothing but good things to say about this particular model. Great Docsis 3 cable modem with phone service capability.
